Gun-toting gal blasts drone over 'Godfather' star's estate
Jennifer Youngman was cleaning her shotguns on her front porch when the city slickers pulled up in their fancy black Range Rover SUV and parked in front of her neighbor's property in Fauquier County, Virginia.
Youngman immediately figured something was amiss.
For one thing, the two men were parked on a country road in the middle of nowhere, and second, her neighbor just happens to be iconic Hollywood actor and "The Godfather" star Robert Duvall.
Youngman's suspicions were quickly confirmed when she saw the men launch a drone into the air.
"They set up a card table and began flying it across the field," Youngman told the Fauquier Times. "The cows were being disturbed, and I thought these might have been some of the same people who have been run off in the past."
She said the wind picked up and the men appeared to lose control of the drone, which was hovering over her pasture.
"They were going a little too fast and they went over my airspace. I had my .20-gauge there, so I put two 7 1/2 birdshot shells in it, and there you are," she told the newspaper.
Youngman took the drone down with a single shot.
"When it came, I just reached my gun up like this, pow, and got it," she told WJLA-TV.
The men yelled and fled in their Range Rover as Youngman shouted after them that she was calling the police.
"They were kinda mad, but they knew to not come on my property."
Youngman says her only regret is the debris from the drone caused a few flat tires on her tractor.
The scuttlebutt around town is the drone pilots may have been working for the National Enquirer or another tabloid trying to get photos of Duvall on his 400-acre spread.
"We've had quite a few laughs in the neighborhood," she said of the incident.
Youngman said the neighbors keep a close eye on each other after a series of burglaries in the area a few years ago, and sightseers sometimes force Duvall's security team to intervene.
"We have people around here all the time, and he's a really nice man," she said of Duvall. "But you have to respect other people's property."Drone, Shoot Down, Jennifer hyoungman, Shotgun, Range Rover SUV, Fauquier County Virginia, Estate
