Monday night on Fox's Sean Hannity, Senator Lindsey Graham who runs hot and cold on President Trump made a suprisingly strong condemnation of what he termed the Democrats attempt to destroy the president and his agenda using vicious allegations levied against his Supreme Court nominee Brett kavanaugh.

“For them to complain about the process is like an arsonist complaining about a fire. The allegations against Judge Kavanaugh are collapsing. This has been the worst low point in the Senate for me and that is saying a lot,” Graham chided.

“I never thought it would get this bad. We are going to have a hearing Thursday and have a vote soon thereafter. And I look forward to supporting this good man,” Graham added. “The takeaway for me, Sean, is that when it comes to Donald Trump, there are no boundaries, there are no rules. Whatever you need to do to destroy him or his agenda is okay.”

He continued his dismal assessment of the Democrats saying, “Well, Democrats are willing to believe anything about a Trump nominee. They didn’t believe anything about President Clinton, who had a long history of this. Here’s what I can tell you – this man, Judge Kavanaugh, has been in very responsible jobs for well over twenty years. Not one woman has ever come forward to say he acted inappropriately in the workplace, that he used his power in an untoward way.”

The Democrats have clearly adopted a scorched earth policy.  Some analysts believe they may have crossed the line however.  Democrat polster Pat Cadell said that his party sees everybody standing in the way of their political agenda as "road kill."

Cadell said, "It is frightening how people's lives are damaged, I mean, are thrown away." Everybody is roadkill when it comes to their desire to succeed in their goal, which is to beat Kavanaugh, whether it destroys him, his family, whatever - whether the charges are real or spurious. ...

When even honest Democrats complain about the tactics of the Democratic party there is a problem.  In the midst of all of this however, recent polling by Gallup show that Republicans have reached a favorability rating of 47%, their highest favorability rating in seven years.

Only one other time in the last decade has the Republican Party had a significantly higher score than the Democratic Party. That one exception came in November 2014, immediately after elections that saw Republicans capture control of the Senate and expand their majority in the House, when 42% rated the GOP favorably and 36% the Democrats.
